RULES FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE
YEARLY SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATION AND APPRAISAL SYSTEM
FOR GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
OF BEIJING NORMAL UNIVERSITY




1.

 

 

According to the yearly scholarship examination and appraisal system for government scholarship for international students set by the Chinese National Committee of Funds for Overseas Students, as one of the colleges and universities that accept Chinese government scholarship students and one of the enforcement units of yearly examination and appraisal, BNU formulates these rules specially.

The aim of the yearly examination and appraisal is to encourage international students enjoying Chinese government scholarship to work hard and obtain academic success.

3.

The objects of the yearly examination and appraisal are scholarship students who have got permission to continue their study in BNU or to transfer to another school.
4.
The contents of the yearly examination and appraisal:
a)

1)

School transcripts: pass the tests or examinations of every subject of the academic year and satisfactorily finish the graduation thesis as planned;
 

2)

 

Studying attitude: attend classes on schedule and the attendance rate is above 90%; be diligent and fond of learning; be able to get at least good comments from teachers or supervisors;
 

3)

 

Behavior performance: observe Chinese laws and regulations as well as disciplines of BNU; respect teachers and participate in school activities actively, take good care of public property;
 

4)

Rewards and punishments received during the period studying in BNU.

The procedures of the yearly examination and appraisal:

The Office of International Scholars and Students' Affairs is responsible to deliver the forms and relevant materials about the yearly examination and appraisal, and to do the work of explanation and illustration;
 

2)



Students applying for government scholarship of the next year are expected to fill in the first page of "THE FORM OF YEARLY EMANIANTION AND APPRAISAL OF SCHOLARSHIP FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS" by themselves and then hand it to the Office.

Government scholarship students studying Chinese should get school transcripts and teachers' comments issued by the International Chinese Education College of BNU, which examine and appraise the students' performance in the academic year according to the requirements of the contents of the yearly examination and appraisal. The conclusions with the signature of the head of the college are supposed to be sent to the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs

Non-degree students with government scholarship studying in departments (institutes or schools) are supposed to get school transcripts and teachers' comments from their departments (institutes or schools), which examine and appraise the students' performance in the academic year according to the requirements of the contents of the yearly examination and appraisal. The conclusions with the signature of the head of the departments (institutes or schools) are supposed to be sent to the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs

Degree students with government scholarship are supposed to get school transcripts and teachers' comments from their departments (institutes or schools), which examine and appraise the students' performance in the academic year according to the requirements of the contents of the yearly examination and appraisal. The conclusions with the signature of the head of the departments (institutes or schools) are supposed to be sent to the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs

Government scholarship students who are writing the degree thesis are supposed to get comments of their performance of the academic year from their tutors/advisers; the comments are to be handed in to the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs after signed by the head of the departments (institutes or schools).

After combining the comments of both the tutors (teachers) and the departments, the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs will fill in the second page of the "THE FORM OF YEARLY EMANIANTION AND APPRAISAL OF SCHOLARSHIP FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS" according to the requirements of the Chinese National Committee of Funds for Overseas Students. The FORMS will be officially delivered to the Committee before May 31st every year after being signed by related personnel of the Office and sealed by the Office.

The Office of International Scholars and Students' Affairs, as the enforcement sector, is to announce the ultimate decisions to scholarship students. Those who do not pass the yearly examination and appraisal will be deprived of the qualification of enjoying scholarship from the beginning of the next academic year, and they can apply for government scholarship again only one academic year after the deprivation. After the scholarship expires, students can leave BNU or they can apply to continue their study on their own expenses according to relevant regulations.

Students who apply to continue their study on their own expenses after their scholarship expires are expected to submit a written application to BNU if they apply for a resumption of scholarship one year after the deprivation. Students are to report their applications to their embassies in China after being approved by BNU. If the embassies approve, the embassies are to get in touch with the Chinese National Committee of Funds for Overseas Students for the issues of examination and appraisal.

7.

Students who do not accept examination and appraisal without proper reasons will be deprived of the qualification of enjoying scholarship.
