LIVING AND ACTIVITY

 

1.



Students can take part in the relevant activities of the university's students' union and all kinds of amateur sports, cultural entertainment activities such as sports teams and theatre troupe, etc. They are also allowed to join in activities of important Chinese festivals voluntarily. The university encourages normal friendly communication.

The university will organize voluntarily journeys every winter vacation (the time, cost, route, etc. will be informed to students one month in advance). Students enjoying government scholarship enjoy certain amount of allowance; students on their own expenses pay their own expenses.

Students are supposed to observe the regulations of timetable made by the university. They should use the classrooms, dinning hall and other public facilities at the time session fixed by the university.

Students should live in the dormitories specified by the university. It is not allowed to change dormitories without permission.

Students are expected to keep the room clean and quiet. It is not allowed to have dancing parties and uproar in the dormitory building, on the top of the building or in the balcony. It is not allowed to use washing machines after 10:00 p.m. so as not to disturb others.

It is not allowed to move, dismantle and reconstruct any facility in the room without permission. Damages and lost of public properties shall be compensated.

Students enjoy Chinese holidays. The university generally does not grand vacations for students' native holidays (Corban, Christmas, Easter, etc.), but students can take one or two days off if they report to the teachers. Places for conducting religious rites and economic aids will not be provided by the university. Students can contact temples or churches by themselves if they want to conduct religious rites in these places.

On the condition that students observe university regulations and if the university agrees, they may hold single-national or multinational activities to celebrate the National Day, Independence Day, Day of Revolution and other important traditional holidays at the place and within the time cession stipulated by the university. (Students need to hand in the written application to the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs three days in advance.) The activities may include photo exhibition, picture poster, etc. The activities are not allowed to have anti-China, obscene and accusing a third country content. If the university finds that there are contents not proper to show, the activity will be required to stop.

It is expected that they shall go through application procedures according to relevant laws and regulations if students want to set up an organization in the university, across schools or across regions. Students are not allowed to set up any organization without permission.

International students are not allowed to interfere with internal affairs of China in any forms.

It is not allowed to set off firecrackers or fireworks in Beijing (see regulations made by municipal government of Beijing). The Public Security Bureau will seriously penalize those who set off firecrackers or fireworks.

Students are not allowed to smoke in their dormitories.

Students are not allowed to drink excessively.

Students are forbidden to take drugs in any place. If the university found to taking drugs, they are to be delivered to the Public Security Bureau.

Students are not allowed to scuffle.

Students who do not observe BNU rules and regulations and who have bad behavior such as destroying public property or scuffling will be given punishments like disciplinary warning, warning, recording a demerit, keeping in school but placing under surveillance, compelling to quitting school, expelling from school, etc. base on the seriousness of their cases according to "REGULATIONS OF PUNISHMENTS FOR THOSE VIOLATING THE DISCIPLINE IN BEIJING NORMAL UNIVERSITY". If those who are kept in school but placed under surveillance continue to violate school regulations, BNU will compel them to quit school. Those who are compelled to quit school are supposed to go through the procedures of cancellation of residence permit and return to their countries. As soon as the punishments for violating regulations are decided, BNU will inform the punishments to relevant embassies in China, dispatching units and the students' guarantor.
