REGULATIONS ON ACCOMODATION

 

Accommodations off campus:

1.

 

 

 

 
If you live off BNU campus, you must present to the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs your legal residence certificate. If you live in a foreigner-proofed hotel, apartment or an international student building at another school, you should get the certificate with the official seal from the locus information desk. If you rent a Chinese house, you should get a completed REGISTRATION FORM OF TEMPORARY RESIDENCE with the official seal from the local police station. To get this form, you should register at the local police station with your landlord. Meanwhile, your landlord should present the Hu Kou Ben to the policemen and you should present your passport and Residence Permit (if you have it)within 24 hourse dating from your entering.

If you want to live off the campus, please get the legal residence certificate and provide it to the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs and together with your phone number.

3.

 
If you want to change the house off the campus, please get the new legal residence certificate and provide it to the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs and together with your new phone number.

4.
If you could not present to the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs your legal residence certificate off campus, the Office of International Visiting Scholars and Students' Affairs won't do any procedures on your visa and you need to response for any consequences on your own.

5.
Students who violated the previous regulation and students who offered false information concerning changing of addresses will receive punishments like disciplinary warning, expulsion etc. according to the seriousness of violation. Students who have seriously violated the regulations will be delivered to Beijing Public Security Bureau.


Accommodations on campus:

1.
International students should read carefully the "accommodation regulations" when they move to the dormitories and they should live in the dormitories strictly according to the regulations.

Whenever there is any vacant bed in a room, the administrator will arrange students originally living in different rooms to live together; students are supposed to obey this kind of arrangements and are not allowed to change rooms or occupy rooms without approval. Students who change rooms without approval will be fined 300 RMB or given disciplinary warning; students who occupy rooms without approval will be fined two times the sum of the bed fee per day or given disciplinary warning. If the cases are too serious, students involved are supposed to be given punishments which will be more severe than serious warning.

3.
Students are not allowed to utilize the dormitories to conduct activities violating Chinese laws or BNU regulations. Students who violate Chinese laws will be sent to local Public Security Bureau; those violate BNU regulations will be sent to the security department of the university.

4.
Only the students themselves can use Foreign Students Dormitory. Students are not supposed to have visitors stay overnight. Those who have visitors stay overnight without approval will be fined four times the sum of bed fee per day. Students with serious cases will be given punishments which will be more severe than serious warning.

Students are not allowed to transfer or sublet rooms. Those who violate this rule will be fined four times the sum of bed fee per day. Students with serious cases will be given punishment which will be more severe than serious warning.
6.
Students should lock the door when going out so as not to be stolen. When going out for a trip, students are expected to pull off the plugs.

7.
Students using public gas stove are expected to pay attention to the safety so as to avoid fire or causing damage. It is forbidden to use gas stove or oil burner in the dormitory. Students who refuse to mend their ways despite repeated admonitions will be given punishment of serious warning or expulsion.

Students should observe regulations of fire proof. Lighting fire is strictly forbidden; those who violate this regulation will be fined 200-500 RMB. Students are expected to guard against fire carefully. Anyone who causes fire will be obliged to compensate for all the damages and to pay fines (which are 10 times of the amount of damages); and judicial organs will ascertain criminal responsibilities if the consequences are too grave.

Students are supposed to keep the dormitory clean. Domestic birds or animals or any pets are not allowed in the rooms. In order to keep the corridors clean and clear and to make the corridors easy to be cleaned, it is not allowed to move furniture and other articles to the corridors so as to avoid being stolen, damaged, lost or unsightly. Students who do not obey the administrators' advice will be deprived of the qualification of living in BNU dormitories.
10.
BNU will not provide rooms for couples or relatives (the couple both being students of BNU are allowed to live in the dormitory, but other relatives are not allowed to live together.)

11.

 
Students are not allowed to smoke in the dormitory. Those who do not obey the administration or do not care the protests of their roommates will be deprived of the qualification of living in BNU dormitories.

12.
Students are forbidden to conduct any activity such as dancing, uproar or play music in high volume that disturbs others' study or rest. Those who refuse to mend their ways despite repeated admonitions will be given punishments of more than serious warning according to the seriousness of their case.

Students are expected to pay attention to electricity saving. Power source in the dormitories is only for lighting and low power electrical equipment. Students are forbidden to use electric heating equipments such as electric stove, hair drier, electric heating radiator, electric thermos, electro thermal blanket, etc. The electric equipments mentioned above will be confiscated if they are found being used. Those who refuse to mend their ways despite repeated admonitions will be fined 200-500 RMB or given punishments of serious warning or expulsion according to the seriousness of their cases.
14.
Students are supposed to observe regulations of timetable for work and rest of the dormitory.

15.
Students are supposed to pay the deposit according to the regulations of the dormitory before they move in. When they leave, the deposit is to be returned according to the relevant regulations (if the articles in the room are damaged, the damages will be deducted from the deposit.)
16.
Students are supposed to change bedclothes according to the regulations of the dormitory.
17.
Students having graduated and completed courses are supposed to go through the procedures of returning room and leaving school at the earliest date.
18.
During the winter/summer vacation, students should go through the procedures of returning room according to the request of their own dormitory respectively.
19.
To those students who are against the "accommodation regulations", the dormitory administrators and students have the rights to cancel their residence.
